  112. TCN PROGRAM INSTALLATION AND STARTUP

  114. Installation and startup of The CONSTITUTION Notebook Program can be
  115. slightly different depending on whether your copy came from a CD-ROM, a
  116. disk vendor, or a BBS.
  117.

  120. TCN PROGRAM STARTUP
  121.  
  122. The first time the TCN program is run following installation, up to 5
  123. screens are automatically displayed to help you get started.  Spend as
  124. much time as you like on each screen.  (You CAN manually access them
  125. later.)
  126.  
  127. The last of these screens offers to automatically start EASY QT, an
  128. automatict quick tutorial.  TCNbP Company urges you to click Yes.
  129.  
  130. Some CD-ROM install programs will automatically launch the TCN program
  131. after installing it.  This is ok.
  132.  
  133. Otherwise, the TCN program is generally started using the Program Manager
  134. icon.  You can also start it from the file manager TCN.EXE icon or by
  135. using the Run option of the Windows Program Manager File menu.
  136.  
  137. NOTE:  Do not attempt to run TCN.EXE directly from the CD-ROM (by
  138. clicking on the TCN.EXE icon or by using the Run option of the Windows
  139. Program Manager File menu).  It will not work.

  145. Some CD-ROMs include a "canned" install program which can be used to
  146. install many or all of the programs contained on the CD-ROM.  TCNbP
  147. Company allows the TCN program to be installed by such programs.  Consult
  148. your CD-ROM documentation.  If its canned install program will install
  149. the TCN program, you can use it.

  151. NOTE:  If your CD-ROM does not include such an install program, you can
  152. install the TCN program using TCNSTALL.BAT.

  158. Use TCNSTALL.BAT.  It is self documenting.  Type TCNSTALL or TCNSTALL ?
  159. and press ENTER.

  162. INSTALLATION FROM BBS DOWNLOADS

  164. To install the TCN program using files downloaded from a BBS:
  165.  
  166. 1.  Unzip the compressed file in a scratch directory.
  167.  
  168. 2.  Use TCNSTALL.BAT to install the TCN program files in the directory
  169. where you will operate it.

  174. Version 3.3 of the TCN program focussed on the user documentation.

  176. The new documentation is available under a new menu called Evaluation.
  177.  
  178. The default tutorial offered when the TCN program is started after
  179. installation is called Easy QT.  The flow of information in Easy QT is
  180. logical beginning with a few pages that tell you how to use Easy QT
  181. itself.  This is followed by a few more pages that introduce the TCN
  182. program and study of the Constitution in a non-technical manner.  Then
  183. follows the technical information and exercises that let you know how to
  184. actually operate the features of the TCN program.  Easy QT automatically
  185. saves your place.

  187. Topic review (previously part of Tutorial I) is now a separate menu item
  188. under the Evaluation menu.  Access is easier - status information is
  189. clearly presented after you have reviewed some topics - and you have a
  190. better way of knowing what will be saved as your resume topic.

  192. Quick Tutor lets you jump around in Easy QT materials.  A two-page
  193. outline of available materials can be printed out on paper to guide you.
  194. Also, QT lets you access some information not covered in Easy QT.

  196. In addition to the documentation changes described above, the interactive
  197. registration screen was greatly simplified.

  209. By virtue of the fact that you possess a copy of the TCN Program, TCNbP
  210. Company grants a limited license to use and distribute this software.

  213. LIMITED LICENSE FOR USE OF THE TCN PROGRAM

  215. TCNbP Company grants you a limited license to use the TCN program for
  216. evaluation purposes as follows:

  218. ANYONE can use the TCN program for the greater of 20 times or thirty
  219. days.

  221. STUDENTS enrolled in:   public school,

  223.                         parochial school,
  224.                         college,
  225.                      OR
  226.                         any organized class or course of instruction
  227.                         that revolves directly around the Constitution,

  232. HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS can use the TCN program up to one school year, not
  233. to exceed twelve months.

  235. Without incurring any obligation to TCNbP Company, you can use the TCN
  236. program for the trial period that applies to you.  If you use the TCN
  237. program beyond the applicable trial period, you are obligated to
  238. register.  Refer to the various options of the Shareware menu (within the
  239. TCN program itself) for further information.

  241. You may not use, copy, rent, lease, sell, modify, decompile, disassemble,
  242. otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the licensed program except as
  243. provided in this agreement.  Any such unauthorized use shall result in

  248. LIMITED DISTRIBUTION LICENSE FOR THE TCN PROGRAM

  250. Your license to distribute trial copies of the TCN program is a
  251. permanent license.  TCNbP Company grants this distribution license to
  252. ANYONE with a copy of the TCN program.

  254. ANYONE can distribute unmodified copies of the TCN Program trial version
  255. package, without further permissions.

  257. ANYONE can charge a nominal fee for providing trial copies to
  258. individuals or organizations.  $5.00 or less suggested price.  $10.00

  288. files MUST be transferred to a hard drive.
